During operation with the stock components, the bolt can move back far enough to expose a cut out inside the receiver where, under the right circumstances, spent shell casings can fall into and become lodged thus locking up the function of the fun. Not good!
This short-stroke buffer for the Grand Power Stribog is a cheap, simple, and easy solution to getting casings lodged in the receiver during operation; it limits the amount that the bolt can travel back just enough to not expose that cut out in the receiver.
The slightly shortened stroke can also help during rapid firing operations with the correct ammo, since the shortened stroke takes less time for the bolt to return to firing position, thus allowing quicker following shots to be taken.
